我已經看過前後文，這樣解釋蠻合理的，因為後文繼續說克林頓因為蓋茲沒中招，而冷淡的反應，感到有點受挫。
在英文中逗點後面有時是在說明前面的東西，在這裡就是這樣。

大西洋月刊 2009 年 6 月的封面故事，報導了格蘭特研究，一個以時間為主軸，對人類一生的發展過程，作史上最漫長的追蹤研究。
這個專案起於 1938 年，對 268 名哈佛大二男生，開始長達 75 年的人生點滴記錄，探索的範圍涵蓋人性上、心理上、及生理上等特質 -- 從人格類型到智商、到酗酒惡習、到家庭關係、甚至到 " 蛋蛋活耀期的長短 " 等 -- 致力找出影響人類一生的興衰中，最主要的因素為何。
最近，主導該研究三十多年的喬治瓦倫，出版了 "成功的經驗" 一書，對格蘭特研究作出了一個深刻的總結。其中一項是："酗酒乃是造成社會秩序混亂，最具毀滅性威力的根源。"  酗酒是促成格蘭特研究對象中，會與老婆離婚的主要原因。它跟疑神疑鬼、意志消沉有直接的關聯；( 酗酒是意志消沉的因，不是果 ) 再加上菸酒不分家，它就變成青年得病，英年早逝的唯一最大元兇。在某種程度上，它與智商的高低無關。
智商在 110 ~ 115 的男人，與智商高達 150 以上的男人，他們最高的收入並無太大的差異。上了年紀但思想開放自由的人，不減其對性生活的興趣。政治意識並不影響生活的滿意度。但多數思想保守的男人，平均在 68 歲就沒有性生活了；而多數思想開放自由的男人，性生活可延續到 80 幾歲。" 我曾請教有關此道的醫生專家們，" 瓦倫在書中寫道：" 結果他們也是丈二金鋼摸不著腦袋。"
但瓦倫有答案，且極度堅信在老年，仍熱中於維繫男女關係、保持健康身體、與追求開心幸福，三者不可缺一所聯動產生的力量，正是維持人類性活躍的主因。此篇報導在 2009 年，大西洋月刊上登出後，有人評論質疑這種聯動式的力量。瓦倫卻再度重申他書中的資料，是他從 1960 年代至今，歷經多年來的追蹤研究的真實經驗，

三個投球技巧:

2. 抬腿到一定高度後停止, 保持平衡, 在那個平衡的姿勢下才開始投球的動作, 不要在你還沒達到平衡的姿勢之前突然展開你的身體把球丟出去, 這樣球會飛高

沒有任何問題能打敗我No problem can beat(defeat) me.
沒有任何事情能打倒我
Nothing can beat(defeat) me.
這兩句話可以用來回應同一情況，具有相同的意思。如有朋友拿開不了機的電腦，請幫忙解決問題，而你拍胸脯，打包，’說”任何事都難不倒我”，於是說上面兩句其中之一，都表達同様的意思。
而兩句語意雖相近，但文字上明顯一句是”問題”，另一句的則是”事情”，所在翻譯一定是不同，總不能把”問題”譯成”事情”，而”事情”譯成”問題。
